Sky News host Paul Murray says reopening interstate borders is no longer “a matter of caution, it is a matter of fairness”.

Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland have clashed with NSW over hardline border closures despite advice from Deputy Chief Heath Officer Paul Kelly suggesting the medical risk would not be increased if restrictions in this area were to ease.

Mr Murray said it was “heartbreaking and infuriating” to see “petty provincial politics crushing normal people”.

“These people have the right to continue on with their lives and the government has a responsibility to facilitate it”.

Instead political debate has been reduced to childish bickering between Premiers saying “my states better than your state”.

“It’s real small-time stuff”.
