Sky News host Chris Kenny says Media Watch’s Paul Barry is lecturing Australians on identity politics when he is “an upper middle-aged, white Pommy male who, for all we know, could be cisgendered, straight and monolingual to boot”.
Mr Kenny said the Media Watch host has bought into a survey on media diversity and provided a lecture “against Anglo-Celts”.
“Apart from not practising what it preaches on diversity, the ABC ignores real diversity, the diversity of ideas,” Mr Kenny said.
Mr Kenny said at the ABC “they are just so focused on race and gender and sexuality”.
“What about ideas (and) thought,” he said.
Discussing the topic with Mr Kenny, broadcaster Justin Smith said “we should absolutely have diversity, but in a very real way”.
