The week that was in world politics: ‘Cartoon style’

Chief editorial cartoonist at The Australian Johannes Leak has taken a look at the week that was in world politics portrayed through cartoons with Sky News host Chris Kenny.

Mr Leak took a jab at leftist journalists in his cartoon of protests in Portland, Oregon, depicting a reporter undermining US President Donald Trump for downplaying the danger of COVID-19 while simultaneously ignoring the violent riot unfolding right behind him.

“We interrupt our coverage of this peaceful protest to bring you damaging revelations that the president downplayed the danger of COVID-19,” the caption said.

Mr Leak said the cartoon demonstrated what’s been taking place for “months on end now”.

“It’s not just the media, the Democrats, too, were very, very reluctant to even mention some of the rioting and some of the violence going on in these cities,” he said.
