Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has sparked a bitter row with Premier Daniel Andrews by hitting out at the Victorian government’s roadmap to recovery.
He accused Daniel Andrews of “callous indifference” towards economic hardship in the state and said the easing of devastating restrictions was happening too slowly.
“More than 1,000 people in Victoria are losing their job everyday of this lockdown on average,” Mr Fredenberg told Sky News.
“Now Victoria with 26 per cent of Australia’s population makes up 40 per cent of those effectively unemployed across the country.”
However, Premier Andrews dismissed the treasurer’s claims, accusing him of “playing politics”.
“It’s all about the politics with this bloke isn’t it. That’s all he does.
“He’s not a leader. He’s just a Liberal.”
