NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham says the left used to embrace a “timeless message”, until they discovered the dead end of “divisive identity politics”.

His comments come after the staff of Australia’s Governor-General David Hurley underwent a CSU ‘privilege walk’.

“There used to be a time when progressive politics – so called – was about solidarity,” Mr Latham told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“That should be the enduring theme, rather than dividing people on the basis of things they can’t do anything about.”

Mr Latham said the left had embraced the timeless message of judging people by their merits, character, work ethic, and “contribution to a better society”.

“That had been embraced by the left until they discovered this dead end of divisive identity politics.”
