This sweet ode to modern motherhood ingeniously spins the age-old “your mama” joke on its head, turning it into a point of pride that empowers and recognizes moms for their love and everyday hard work, with lines like: “Your mama so strong, she like a marine. Up three flights of stairs, carries the groceries. When you both had a fever, carried you to the emergency” and “Your mama dress so fine, she could have her own clothing line.” This stunning tribute to moms is made even more special by its fluid mix of English and Spanish throughout the text.
