The Political Economy of Iraq: Restoring Balance in a Post-Conflict Society

Ten years after the Iraq War, Iraq’s economy is hindered by an Islamic State insurgency, low oil prices, and massive youth unemployment. Frank R. Gunter will examine Iraq’s endemic economic issues as discussed in the second edition of The Political Economy of Iraq. Gunter will join Ron Granieri to discuss the unique difficulties facing the modern Iraqi economy and ponder the possibility of the country’s future.

People, Politics, and Prose with Ron Granieri features in-depth conversations with authors of recent books on international affairs and national security. Moderated by FPRI’s Ronald J. Granieri, each session will build on the book’s contents to discuss the author’s influences and motivations, relating everything to current events to elicit a broader understanding of the geographical, political, and historical context of our contemporary world.
