We are beginning the year, 2022, with a look ahead at Texas politics. Our guests on this first program of the new year are talking about a lot of issues that get crowded out of headlines. Affordable housing for example. It’s not a lightning rod issue, but it affects real Texans every day.

For the first time in a quarter-century, Texas Democrats might have a fighting chance for governor. Can Texans expect to see what the most expensive governor’s races in Texas history could be?

Travis County tackled COVID a little differently. The Democratic county judge there put politics aside. He called his Republican colleagues in neighboring counties, and they teamed up on vaccinations getting one of the highest rates in the state.
