Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has promised to “do politics better” as he attempts to unite a nation experiencing “conflict fatigue”.

Mr Albanese said he looks forward to leading a government that makes Australia proud, pointing to his intention to unite the nation under a “common purpose”.

“I think that’s one of the messages that came through on Saturday; people do have conflict fatigue,” he said during his first media conference on Monday.

“I’ll work with people—whether it’s the crossbenches or the Opposition, to try to, wherever possible, to get agreement.

“It’s the way I ran the Labor Party from the day I became Labor Leader.”
