President Rodrigo R. Duterte led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Philippine Sports Training Center in Bagac.
The P3.5-billion sports complex will cater to athletes of archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, bowling, taekwondo, karate, judo, wrestling, cycling (velodrome), dance sport, football, gymnastics, handball, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, shooting, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, wall climbing, water polo, and weightlifting.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chief of Staff and National Training Director Marc Velasco joins an ocular inspection for the soon-to-rise Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) in Bagac, Bataan.
The state-of-the-art sports hub will feature numerous facilities for administrative, sports science, medical, and dormitories for athletes and coaches.
It will have amenities for 39 Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
An amount of P3.5 billion is appropriated by the law for the construction of the facility.
The PSTC is a product of Republic Act 11214, signed in February 2019, which mandated the establishment of a sports complex which will be the primary venue for the development and training of national athletes, and improvement of sports science and research.
Central Luzon is now home to various world class sports facilities such as the Philippine Arena and the Philippine Stadium(Bulacan) New Clark City Sports Hub(Tarlac) Philippine Sports Training Center(Bataan) and the National Academy of Sports in New Clark City, Tarlac.
