Erik ten Hag has ordered Manchester United’s players in for extra training today as Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is under further scrutiny.

Sky Sports News understands Ten Hag wanted to make his players run 13.8 kilometres during training because Brentford’s players ran that much further than them during Saturday’s 4-0 defeat (109.4km to United’s 95.6km).

Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure during the defeat and has told United he wants to leave the club in to play Champions League football.

The 37-year-old has one year left on his deal with the option of another 12 months but United want to see an improvement in his attitude or they may have to consider terminating his contract.
