Fresh from his stint in the I’m A Celebrity jungle, Matt Hancock urged MPs to support his proposed legislation on dyslexia screening. Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans quipped that Mr Hancock’s was the third Bill of the day and he is ‘making a habit of coming third’ as he welcomed him back. Mr Hancock said it was a ‘pleasure to be here and to be clean and well-fed’, before appealing for the House to back his proposals on dyslexia as a matter of ‘social and economic justice’. He insisted better screening must be the next part of the government’s ‘education revolution’, saying his own diagnosis had allowed him to ‘essentially relearn how to read’. Mr Hancock is currently the independent MP for West Suffolk, having had the Conservative whip suspended for choosing to go on the reality show when the House was sitting.
