With the conclusion of the hotly contested NRM primary for Mawogola North, the consensus is beginning to form in some quarters that Godfrey Aine Sodo Kaguta’s victory over Shartsi Musherure marks a new era in the politics of the constituency and Sembabule at large.

According to experts, the departure of Foreign Affairs minister Sam Kutesa and the failure of his daughter Shartsi to win the NRM flag for the constituency signifies a loosening of Kutesa’s influence in the area, which might have a ripple effect at all levels in coming elections.

However, according to observers of Sembabule politics, Godfrey Aine Sodo has a big task ahead of uniting the disgruntled voters as well as living up to his word of transforming Mawogola North.
