The Kenya Sports Shooting Federation is targeting to send a strong team to the 2026 youth Olympic Games to be held in Dakar, Senegal. As part of scouting for new talents, the federation had an open day Jamhuri shooting event in Magadi, Kajiado County where they invited members to bring their children to try out the sport.
There were 79 competitors from all over the country take part. Aden Mohammed was the overall winner with 206 points followed by Wilberforce Kerema with 204 points. Nune Bonaya won the women trophy with 185 points ahead of Joyce Chebii. The best juniors were Theo Ayub, Ayan Keshavjee and Adnan Ibrahim. Clubs that sent their representatives included the Kenya Defence Forces shooting club, national police services shooting club, Kenya regiment rifle club, Mt Kenya sports shooting club and women sports shooting club. The different categories in competition included shotgun, 9mm pistol and AK-47.
