TikTok star, Tanya Pardazi, died on August 27, at the age of 21, after opening parachute too late while skydiving.
Pardazi, who had almost 100,000 TikTok followers, previously competed in the Miss Canada beauty paegeant, making it to the semi-finals in 2017.
American boxer, Earnie Shavers, passed away on September 1, at the age of 78. He was known as one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight boxing history. He scored 68 knockout wins, including 23 in the first round. He fought for two world heavyweight championships, losing out both times to legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, in 1977, and Larry Holmes in 1979.
Russian and Soviet politician who served as the last leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, died on August 30, at the age of 91.
Gorbachev became a hero in the West – for allowing Eastern Europe to shake off more than four decades of Soviet communist control.
He also let East and West Germany reunite, and forged arms control treaties with the United States, which lifted the “Iron Curtain” and ended the Cold War.
English reggae musician and record producer, Drummie Zeb, died on September 2, at the age of 62. He was the lead vocalist for the iconic band, Aswad. The three-time Grammy nominated band were best known for hits, including Shine, and Don’t Turn Around.
Len Dawson, a Hall of Fame quarterback who led the Kansas City Chiefs to the franchise’s first Super Bowl win, died on August 24, at the age of 87.
He was named to six AFL All-Star teams, and one Pro Bowl squad, and also earned AFL Player of the Year honors, for the 1962 season.
French-born American chef and culinary writer, Roland Mesnier, passed away on August 26, at the age of 78. His creations, during his twenty-five years as Executive Pastry Chef, at the White House, earned him the reputation, of a creative genius.
He catered to the idiosyncratic tastes of five presidents, their wives and their guests, an experience he chronicled in several books.
American news anchor, Neena Pacholke, died on August 27, at the age of 27. She joined W A O W in 2017 as a multimedia journalist. She became a co-anchor for the station’s morning show, “Wake Up Wisconsin,” in 2019.
American author and political activist, Barbara Ehrenreich, passed away on September 1, at the age of 81. She was the author of more than 20 books, on social justice themes ranging from women’s rights to inequality, and the inequities of the American healthcare system.
British journalist and presenter, Bill Turnbull, died on August 31, at the age of 66. In 1990, Turnbull became a correspondent for BBC News, and reported from more than 30 countries, with notable stories he covered, including the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and the OJ Simpson trial. He joined BBC Breakfast in 2001 as one of the main presenters, a position he held for fifteen years.
American country musician and singer-songwriter, Luke Bell, died at the age of 32. He was known for songs, “Where Ya Been?”, and his most recent single, “Jealous Guy,” which he unveiled last year.
American radio presenter, Specs Howard, died on September 3rd at the age of 96.
