Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced to contest for the post of Congress President. Since then it was discussed that after Gehlot became the president, he would have to leave the chief minister’s post and would be replaced by Sachin Pilot. Sonia Gandhi also talked to Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot for this. However, before there was any announcement regarding Sachin Pilot, there was a rebellion in Rajasthan and about 90 MLAs of Ashok Gehlot camp resigned.
मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत ने कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष पद का चुनाव लड़ने का ऐलान किया था. इसके बाद से चर्चा थी कि गहलोत के अध्यक्ष बनने के बाद उन्हें मुख्यमंत्री पद छोड़ना पड़ेगा और उनकी जगह सचिन पायलट लेंगे. सोनिया गांधी ने इसके लिए सचिन पायलट और अशोक गहलोत से बात भी की थी. हालांकि, सचिन पायलट को लेकर कोई ऐलान होता, उससे पहले ही राजस्थान में बगावत हो गई और अशोक गहलोत खेमे के करीब 90 विधायकों ने इस्तीफा दे दिया.
